Creating a VPN Server

First, you’ll need to open the Network Connections window. The quickest way to open it is to press the Windows key, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter.

Press the Alt key, click the File menu that shows, and select New Incoming Connection.

You can now select the user accounts that can connect remotely. To increase security, you may want to create a new, limited user account rather than allow VPN logins from your primary user account. (Click Add someone to create a new user account.).

Select the Through the Internet option to allow VPN connections over the Internet. You can also allow incoming connections over a dial-up modem, if you have the dial-up hardware.

From the desktop, create a new VPN connection.
1. Locate and right-click the Network symbol in the task bar.
2. Select Set up a new connection or network from the Change your networking settings menu in Network and Sharing Center.
3. Click Connect to a workplace in the Choose a connection option section, then Next.

1. Select Control Panel from the Settings menu.
2. Select Network and Internet from the drop-down menus.
3. Select Network and Sharing Center from the drop-down menu.
4. Select Create a new network or connection.
5. Click Next after selecting Connect to a Workplace.
6. Choose "Use my Internet Connection" from the drop-down menu (VPN).
