Restrictions for Dedicated Hosts
1. You must supply your own AMIs to run RHEL, SUSE Linux, and SQL Server on Dedicated Hosts. AMIs for RHEL, SUSE Linux, and SQL Server supplied by AWS or accessible on AWS Marketplace are not compatible with Dedicated Hosts. See Bring your own licence for additional information on how to build your own AMI.
This limitation does not apply to hosts that have been assigned to instances with a lot of RAM (u-6tb1.metal, u-9tb1.metal, u-12tb1.metal, u-18tb1.metal, and u-24tb1.metal). These hosts may be utilised with RHEL and SUSE Linux AMIs provided by AWS or available on the AWS Marketplace.
2. Each instance family and Region can have up to two On-Demand Dedicated Hosts. It is possible to seek an increase in the limit: Raise the allocation limit for Amazon EC2 Dedicated Hosts using this request.
