Requirements
Except for Windows Server 2008 Itanium, Windows DNS may be installed on any version of Windows Server 2008 or 2012.
If DNS is installed on a server that simultaneously serves as a Domain Controller, the DNS server will be able to access Active Directory Integrated zones. The DNS server may take advantage of secure dynamic updates when Active Directory Integrated zones are used. DNS server cannot use secure dynamic updates or store zone data in Active Directory if it is installed on a server that is not a Domain Controller.
In addition, the Windows DNS server must have at least one static IP address. This might be IPv4 or IPv6, or a combination of the two.
