Sub domain that will not work

Post by archangevictoria » Mon Feb 23, 2015 2:58 pm

Hi

I just set up my dedicated server. All DNS/Nameservers are properly set up and created on a new account.
Even they are working fine. Also I've created a sub domain that will not work subdomain.maindomain.com, however, maindomain.com/subdomain work.

Let me know if I missed something while configuration of my server.

Hello,
You'd need to register the nameservers first in your domain manager there. That would be by clicking on the domain, then adding them in Host Summary (add) area (you'd click on the "add" link) in cpanel.

It should either be an A Record (in which case you need the IP address it needs to point to) or a CNAME (in which case you'll need another subdomain for it to point to). Example using a blog subdomain:

A blog points to server IP address (insert server IP address in field)

CNAME blog is an alias of (insert your domain.com)

The most common reason for a Cloudflare subdomain not working on a site is that you haven't added it to the domain's zone file. An A or CNAME record will be used for a subdomain. 5) Type the name of the record and its value. 6) To complete adding the record, click Add.

The most common reason for a Cloudflare subdomain not working on a site is that you haven't added it to the domain's zone file.

Following the instructions below, you may add your subdomain:

1) Go to your Cloudflare account and log in.
2) Select the domain from the top-left drop-down menu.
3) Go to the DNS icon and click it.
4) From the record type drop-down on the left, choose a record type. An A or CNAME record will be used for a subdomain.
5) Type the name of the record and its value.
6) To complete adding the record, click Add.
7) To complete adding the record, click Add.
