setup the Windows Firewall so that only particular IP addresses are allowed to connect to your ports
1. Use RDP to connect to the server.
2. Open Windows Firewall with Advanced Security by going to Start >> Administrative Tools >> Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
3. Select Inbound Rule >> New Rule from the drop-down menu.
4. Select Custom on the following page, then All Programs.

The port number is "tacked on" to the end of the IP address, as in "192.168. 1.67:80." When data is received at a device, the network software examines the port number and routes it to the appropriate application.
