I'll need about 150-200 GB of disc space, 8 GB of RAM, and will just be hosting a few useful websites.
I'm considering downgrading to reseller hosting as well, however that will limit access to several of my websites that require root access.
It's crazy to pay 18 to 40 dollars per month for a cpanel licence.
I'm open to suggestions.
Any recommendations: Cpanel licencing hidden costs are ridiculous.

If the supplier didn't pass on licence expenses to you, I'd think you got a decent price.
What is your current CPU and RAM usage? If your plan cPanel VPS is running Apache out of the box, you might want to consider moving down to a Reseller Plan with a provider that supports LiteSpeed, which will inevitably require fewer resources than your plan cPanel VPS.
$60 for an 8GB RAM VPS with a (supposedly) 100 account cPanel license still sounds like a good offer.
